Industry Leaders Align on Commercial Realities of Electrification at Vanguard’s 2026 Rental E-Summit

Milwaukee, WI, Oct. 08, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vanguard has wrapped up its Rental E-Summit, titled "A CALL TO ACTION: Navigating the Electrification Ecosystem," held October 6–7. The event brought together North America’s top rental industry decision-makers, including OEMs, rental leadership, technology sectors and industry associations.

The shift toward electric power is no longer a future concept — it is a commercial reality. However, bridging the gap between engineering theory and real-world adoption requires more than just a battery. It requires a unified ecosystem of products, service-based solutions and diverse companies coming together. As a strategic forum paving the way for the industry’s next era, the Rental E-Summit gathered these stakeholders to align on a unified roadmap that goes beyond conceptual promises. This collaborative effort aims to solve the friction of integration and build rental-ready electric fleets that drive high utilization and a measurable ROI.

Focusing on Integration and Fleet Implementation
To make this possible, attendees focused on the practicalities of real-world fleet deployment. Discussions centered on the immediate operational and engineering strategies required to successfully bring electrified equipment to the commercial market. Central to these equipment strategies is the deployment of Vanguard™ commercial battery packs and integrated systems, which are designed to help OEMs streamline integration, reduce powertrain complexity and scale production efficiently.

“True commercial success in the electric market cannot happen in a vacuum — it requires a complete, connected power ecosystem,” said David Frank, senior vice president and president of electrification at Briggs & Stratton®. “By aligning OEMs, rental companies and technology innovators in a single forum, we can collectively solve complex application challenges and move past conceptual promises. This level of collaboration is exactly how we simplify equipment integration and build the framework necessary to deploy highly utilized, high-ROI electric fleets right now.”

Collaborative Innovation Across the Industry
The summit provided an environment where decision-makers and influencers could align to ensure that future equipment meets the real-world operational demands of the rental market. Throughout the event, attendees collaborated on building practical electrification roadmaps and heard directly from leaders navigating the shift right now.

The event featured experts from across the heavy equipment, technology and rental sectors. Keynote speaker Katie Leone, sustainability and social impact director at Herc Rentals, led a conversation on the full scope of her company’s sustainability commitments and showed where alternative fuel vehicles fit as one meaningful, evolving piece of that picture. Tom Healy, vice president of manufacturer relations and dealer institute at North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA), delivered a keynote presenting the dealer network perspective on what equipment dealers need from OEMs and rental partners to scale adoption of electric equipment. The final keynote was delivered by Vanguard senior product manager Athan Tsokolas, who explored the technical development and commercial deployment of advanced powertrain systems in the off-highway sector.

Power Progress Managing Editor Chad Elmore moderated dynamic panels evaluating real-world OEM success stories and collaborative market strategies. Panelists Aaron Piper, president of Hydraulic Controls, and Greg Scholl, outside sales representative at Hydraulic Controls, joined Tyler Niday, CEO of Bonsai Robotics, to detail their joint development of the Amiga Max farming robot, exploring near-term electrification and autonomous opportunities within the agricultural market. Another panel session featuring Keith Bailey, director of operations at Herc Rentals, and Matt Locke, vice president of sales at Bartell Global, focused on pilot program learnings and what must happen first in order to drive adoption.

Translating Strategy Into Manufacturing Reality
To ground these strategic discussions in practical application, the event also included a behind-the-scenes tour of Briggs & Stratton’s advanced battery manufacturing facility in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Attendees observed Vanguard’s automated assembly lines and quality control processes firsthand. The summit also featured an OEM showcase with live demonstrations of battery-powered equipment and technology applications in action.
